NZ Rockshop Gear is a quarterly publication specifically dedicated to musical instruments. Gear covers the range of products available through NZ Rockshops, including guitars, basses, drums & percussion, keyboards, recording gear, DJ gear, live sound, lighting, print music, and more. I was in charge of designing the entire 56-page publication using information provided by product managers.
This issue of Rockshop Gear focused on the musical instrument 'icons'—the instruments that started musical revolutions and defined the way music sounds.
Stories sell, and this issue was a great way to tell the stories of the pioneers, inventors, and innovators behind some of the brands NZ Rockshop offers. It also created an opportunity to tell the lesser-known story of NZ Rockshop and how NZ's top musical instrument retail company came to be.
I believe in the details. The unnoticed nuances. The subtle changes and the seamless transitions. The ones that tell stories, the ones that make you feel like you are there. And the power that they have to take you back in time or propel you into the future.
