ILLUSTRATIONS & PUBLICATIONS
KBB Music has been the Musical Instrument Specialists since 1888 with NZ's largest range of Brass, Woodwind and Orchestral Instruments. I had the opportunity to design for instrument retailer KBB Music during my time working for the Rockshop, which are both part of their parent company, Webbgroup. This included various illustrations as part of sales campaigns and also a publication called 'Random Notes'.
PROJECT INFO
These are some examples of the many digital illustrations I've done for KBB Music. These were used in posters, large window displays and website banners. The aim of these illustrations was to liven up the KBB Music brand, which in the past has been quite stale. Managers and directors of the company were impressed with the first of these illustrations and requested more.
I wanted to create illustrations that were quite loose, being a reflection of jazz and the creative nature and process of creating music. This was the first time I had tried to create illustrations in this style without using traditional media, but with the combination of my Wacom Tablet and custom splatter brushes; I got some pretty jazzy results.
RANDOM NOTES
Random Notes is an historical publication for KBB Music. It has been sent to schools for many years and I took over its creation in 2014. I have since completely redesigned the publication which was very well recieved by music teachers and staff at KBB Music.
It is created as a music resource for teachers and sent to schools nationwide in NZ every term. Pages often include tips from the KBB Music service department on up-keeping music equipment, music related jokes, articles by scholarship winners and other musicians, upcoming events and special education prices for instruments.
LET'S GO ON AN ADVENTURE
I believe in the details. The unnoticed nuances. The subtle changes and the seamless transitions. The ones that tell stories, the ones that make you feel like you are there. And the power that they have to take you back in time or propel you into the future.
